Image compression and artifacting?

(2 posts)

  1. Hey,

I've put together a few galleries with this, and it's been fairly painless to use. However, my photos seem to have developed some artifacts in the process.

For instance, picture five here: http://www.tom-roberts.com/icu-freshers-week-collection/

The guy is waving his arms in the air. The quality doesn't resemble the original. Is this to do with the Image resize quality setting? Why is it defaulted at 85%?

If you could offer some advice, that would be great.

    Thanks,

    Tomo

  2. You can try to set a higher value for the quality during gallery creation. In my opinion 85% is a good mix for size and quality. The GD library is used for the resizing, some people prefer to let Photoshop to this and replace the images created by the GD library by FTP afterwards.
    Hope this helps you!
