Having an inconsistent sharpness problem

(6 posts)

  1. I have several images up and some look sharp while others don't at all. I've tried adjusting the sharpness and sizes, but that doesn't seem to change. By dragging those photos onto my browser, I can see that they look sharp until I upload them onto my site. I have a color problem with some images too, but my concern right now is the sharpness. You can see what i mean by visiting my site: www.traciehowe.com . Gallery 1 will also show you 2 of the same photos with sharpness adjustments on one, but with no visible difference. Can anyone help? Thanks!

  2. I do not really get which photos on your page you are reffering to...The images are resampled with the gd-library, probably this algorythm cannot match with the ones used in programs like photoshop.

got the same problem here. An option to not change the quality whould be great. Or 100% coud take the original files.

We are also experiencing the sharpness and color change issues with simpleviewer. We mostly see the issue with portrait layout images, not with landscape. How can we fix that? Let us know.

    Thanks,

  5. I noticed that the GD library decreases the sharpness of original pictures if it is asked to produce pictures that have the ame size than originals. If you upload a 600 pixels picture and you ask an output at 600 pixels too (100% quality), the sharpness is reduced. The workaround if found is to upload 800 pixels originals and ask for 600 pixels output. Then the result is perfect.

  6. Yes, the intention of the plugin was to reduce the size of small images. I put the "use originals" option on the list of possible new features.
