WP-SimpleViewer » How-to and Troubleshooting

gallery.xml file missing/not created

(2 posts)

  1. I downloaded the wp-simpleviewer and installed it without any problems.

I have all folders set to the right permissions - 777
I've uploaded a new gallery folder with images to the correct location:
    http://myurl.com/wp-content/photos/newgallery/

The gallery then appears in the WP-SV galleries section on my wordpress account.

But when I select it and press "Create gallery files for this folder"

    It gives me two errors:

ERROR 1 - "Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in /var/www/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-simpleviewer/wp-simpleviewer-admin.php on line 62"

***I looked at line 62 and the permissions were set to 777***

ERROR 2 - Sorry, but I could not create the subfolders for the thumbnails.
I cannot find the gallery's xml file, please check that the gallery's files have been created on the admin pages: /var/www/blog/wp-content/photos/woofstock09/gallery.xml

There is no "gallery.xml" file in the wp-simpleviewer download from what I can tell. It is in the standard simpleviewer download (i.e. not the wordpress plugin). Am I supposed to create a gallery.xml file and upload it? Because I didn't see this anywhere in the instructions.

Thank you for the plugin! Just a little frustrated at the moment! :)

  2. the gallery.xml does not come with the download, it is created for every gallery by the plugin, so that is ok.

But if the permissions for the woofstock09 directory are set to 777 I do not understand why the plugin cannot create the folder for the thumbnails?
