I've seen a few "captions not showing" reports on this site, but none of the responses (change text colour, make area bigger) seem to work. I've installed 3 blogs on the same server, all have had the same issues. It's set to show caption only, in black on the white background.

This is in case strange...Can you reduce the number of thumbnail rows and increase the stage padding? Maybe this helps.
Thanks Markus, the stage padding increase fixed it. I was expecting the caption to be under the photo as opposed to under the thumbnails, but I guess that's because I've chosed to put my thumbnails below the main image!
