xD

come on Fred, it is a so straightforward reasoning as: I cannot drive faster than 60km/h, why? Oh, maybe because I have an old Citroën 2CV! xD

the time of media loading, such as the load of any content (text, videos....) of any webpage in earth depends on 2 basic things: 1- connexion speed of the webpage host to the internet and 2- connexion speed of the client to the internet (sometimes, but much more rare, the network speed between the two previous actors). in your case, as Markus said, is the limitation of the host of your webpage. Either you change of to another free hosting provider or buy an account in a dedicated host provider.

Well, this is because your webserver is slow...so get another webhoster or make the images even smaller. Check the demo page and you will see that the gallery loads fast on a good webserver: http://wp-simpleviewer-demo.fuggi82.de/

Hi,

I love Simpleviewer but the pics in my blog just take so long before they can be displayed !

The pics are 600x800 pixels, they are compressed jpegs (quality level 3 out of 10) and each file weighs 100 kB or so.

What can I do to speed up the display ?

Here's a link to one of the galleries :
http://airfred.ovh.org/index.php/photos/fete-foraine/

Thanks in advance

I was having the problem where the XML was being generated, but there was a path issue:
http://wp-simpleviewer.fuggi82.de/topic/probably-sick-of-this-but-i-cannot-read-the-gallerys-xml-file

Now, I see the flash is loaded, but the gallery will not display. I thought it was a firewall issue, but I've tried the site from three locations now.
http://www.redesign.creativecomponent.com/web-design-portfolio/

I've gone over all of the steps several times, but still cannot make it work.

Any ideas?

I do have the backup copy on my desktop, just that it takes too much work and time to upload everything again....

Anyway, I reckon that the sorting of files ought to be in reverse order, i.e. latest entries be on top. Cos there isn't a "filter" choice, so on the manage files page, the list of files is REALLY long, so have to scroll ALL the way to the bottom to find the newly uploaded file. What do you think?

This is really something that I didn't think off as a solution for the problem :) But good that you finally found it out!

When you export the WP database you just export the settings of the plugin, everything else is stored in the folder, that you use for the galleries (e.g. /wpcontent/photos). To make a backup download this folder and upload it again afterwards. dont forget to change the permissions on the folders back to 777 when you want to be able to perform changes. So you don't need to worry about the photo collection!

things like what is written in between the <title> tags have to be changed in the templates files. you can do it on the wordpress adminpages if you set the template files permissions to 777. I guess for the title it is header.php, for the Blogroll it is the sidebar.php.

I finally know what was the problem!

I opened my webpage using a HTML editor, just to change what is showing between the <title></title> tags. I saved it as index.html and uploaded via FTP.

I reinstalled wordpress and did the above again and the same problem resurfaced. So this time, i just deleted the index.html file and everything is alright.

Question is I still really want to edit what is showing between the <title></title> tags, and also one of the sidebar menu, from "blogroll" to just "links". I can't find any option to edit in wordpress.

Can anyone advice me how to do it? If I should still using html editor, what should i save and upload the file as? php? or what?

tks!

Markus, now I am sad.
because of the problem i had, i exported my wordpress to my desktop in xml format.
then i reintalled my wordpress and imported the xml file. BUT all the photos folders that I have previously uploaded for the gallery are GONE!
which means I have to upload them all over again! It's going to be a lot of work :(

any idea whether i did anything wrong? were there any way to backup simpleviewer galleries previously created so that I could have just exported and imported them, rather than starting from scratch again? I can't imagine if I have to do this after 4 years worth of photos upload.
