When I try to create gallery files for a folderI get the message below:

GD library version 2 or later is required. You are running version: bundled (2.0.28 compatible)

Now the images and XML file for the selected folder will be created:

Now I am working on file 01.jpg:

Any idea how to fix this?

I'm using Wordpress 2.9 and I've been using an older version of Simpleviewer successfully until I upgraded to the Simpleviewer version 1.5.4. Now when I try to change any settings, the files aren't created for that gallery, which is fortunately only one at this point. However, now I can't see that gallery at all. I haven't changed anything else, but I did an automatic upgrade if that has anything to do with it.

I did have a similar problem with my old version when the images and XML files were being created, but would stop half way. Someone suggested clicking the back button and then creating the files again, which always worked. That little trick doesn't work now.

Any ideas?

I'm using wp-sv and I've upgraded to pro. I've set a custom size for the thumbnails (60x90) and was wondering if there was a way to make my own thumbs? Currently it crops them in the middle, which works for some but others I would like to crop them from the top. Is there a way to do this or a folder where I can upload the thumbs or are they just generated in the program?

You can try to set a higher value for the quality during gallery creation. In my opinion 85% is a good mix for size and quality. The GD library is used for the resizing, some people prefer to let Photoshop to this and replace the images created by the GD library by FTP afterwards.
Hope this helps you!

I'm using simpleviewer-pro in wordpress and have the thumbnail size set to 80x104, as this fits most of the images, in the Options.as but for some reason the first one of my thumbnails refuses to adhere to this. Instead of cropping the image to this size it as made a small square image within that frame which looks odd.
http://deborahviereck.com/collections/collection-2009/
There are other images that have a similar square aspect to the first picture and the thumbs for them are at the size specified and cropped into a portrait image. I'm wondering why it's doing this and is there somewhere I can upload the thumbs manually?
I've looked at the thumbs in here
/wp-content/gallery/web-ready-09/thumbs
and they don't seem to be related to the thumbs on the site.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi....I got my permissions problem solved with Godaddy. I was at last able to set the permissions to Read and Write. (No such thing as 777 when it comes to Godaddy hosting, I guess.) Having done that, I was able to get my galleries created, and inserted onto their respective pages on the website.

However, the galleries I created are not displaying on the front end, in Firefox. In Internet Explorer 8, the white background of the gallery is displayed, nothing else.

Here is a link to see the nothingness: http://www.sallietakespictures.com/?page_id=47

What can I do to fix this?

I had it all working perfectly on a copy of the site that is hosted by hostgator....so I wonder if it is still a Godaddy problem.

Hey,

I've put together a few galleries with this, and it's been fairly painless to use. However, my photos seem to have developed some artifacts in the process.

For instance, picture five here: http://www.tom-roberts.com/icu-freshers-week-collection/

The guy is waving his arms in the air. The quality doesn't resemble the original. Is this to do with the Image resize quality setting? Why is it defaulted at 85%?

If you could offer some advice, that would be great.

Thanks,

Oh--PS--I just realized why the test gallery works. I set it up on a test version of the site on my server space which is hosted by Hostgator. Then I copied the site over to my client's hosting on godaddy. So the xml file and all that was already created. Ok...That part of the mystery is solved.

I bet this is a godaddy issue. But if you see something about that error message that gives you an idea of something else I can try, I'm game!

hi there,

first of all: congratulations..this ist a nice plugin to use simpleviewer in wordpress.
unfurtunately with the pro-version it doesn`t work perfectly..which is mentioned before.

I upgraded to pro because of the fullscreen button.
in the normal index.html the button works but not if I import the galley in wordpress..

and the 2nd problem is: the main picture gets smaller..as before.
I include my gallery with the main picture left an the navigation on the right.
without proversion it works nicely

ok..thanks for support..
I`m looking forward for the beta

thx

All recent versions of SimpleViewer have renamed viewer.swf to simpleviewer.swf. I haven't tried the following with the pro version (I don't have it), but it would be worth trying -- it works with the free version:

Copy simpleviewer.swf into folder wp-simpleviewer, and in wp-simpleviewer.php, change the single occurrence of viewer.swf to simpleviewer.swf.

There may be a need to fix some options (in the gallery.xml file, I think -- set allowfullscreen="true" and allowscriptaccess="always"). See the SimpleViewer Pro upgrade doc at http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pro/support/upgrade.html

If anyone tries this with Pro, please post your success or failure -- I'd like to know before putting out the cash.

Hi Sorry for the delay (just got a rescue dog and the days have flown!)

The stagepadding and framewidth don't seem to help, I can set them to '0' but the background is still very large. If you look at this link below, you will see the central picture is quite small. Id like it to be a little larger, but when I set the width in the settings to anything larger than 500 the background goes over the sidebar and covers up the text.

Is there anyway of making the central picture larger without the background getting bigger?

With the help of Felix Turner, the man behind Simpleviewer, I was finally able to resolve my problem. In a nutshell, Simpleviewer Pro v2 is currently (Feb 2010) incompatible with the Wordpress NextGen Plugin. However, the problem I had with the odd positioning of galleries on a page could be fixed by disabling caption and title, which I did not need nor want. This can be done by editing the file simpleviewer.php, which can be found under:

/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-flashviewer/xml/

Right at the beginning of the file simpleviewer.php is the tag <simpleviewerGallery>. You can use that tag to set all the SimpleViewer config options found here:

http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pro/support/pro_options.html

For details see this thread:

http://www.simpleviewer.net/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=25112#p25112

I set it to:

<simpleviewerGallery titlePosition="NONE" captionPosition="NONE">

I recently checked the website that I use SimpleViewer on and found that I had an XHTML non-compliant line in the code.

Turns out that it was the presence of a <style> tag within the <body> of the document which was being put there by the SimpleViewer plug in.

The tag was part of the code added to the page via the WP_footer() command.

I went into the php code of the plugin and changed the "WP_footer" hook to "WP_head" and the page became complaint and as far as I can see, the plugin still works fine.

I mention this here becasue (A) you might want to do this in future releases and (B) to check if it might cause trouble that I simply haven't noticed yet (Thinking that may be why you put it in the footer to begin with).

TIA

Many thanks for the suggestion, but the width is 450px for both. Also, there is plenty of space on the left. The problem is with the centering, not the width. Unfortunately I don't know how to change that, but since it's working with the regular Simple Viewer, and Simple Viewer Pro 1.9, but not with Simple Viewer Pro 2.0.1, I have a hunch the problem is with Simple Viewer Pro 2.0.1!

Everything works as expected, the gallery and everything. Just no preview when you go back to edit captions. I renamed a photo test.jpg and the same thing happens? So odd because it was working fine.

When you bought the pro version you should be able to change the flash file itself (ig you know flash). The plugin itself is not able to handle SimpleViewer 2 yet. This will come soon.

SEOnounou:
Upload your folder to a directory like
/www/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/photos/Gallery1
. Then you should see a gallery called
Gallery1
on the plugins management page.

Brendan:
Can you try to use the default theme? If it is working well then, it is a theme related issue and you know you have to fix the issue there.
